Martin Warde

For almost a century The Galway breed of sheep has been a central part of Martin’s family farming activity.

His family has farmed at the picturesque townland of Windfield Road, Menlough, Co. Galway for over 500 years.

It’s no surprise his quality Galway Sheep has plenty of Red Rossets & Trophies to show for their success at Agricultural shows such as Tullamore, Mountbellew, and the Annual Breeders Show in Athenry. With Victories in the Champion Ram at the All-Ireland in Tullamore, best pair in Mountbellew, and Champion Ram Hogget at the annual Breeders event. Married to Kathleen they have 4 children aged 20 to 26 who all enjoy helping out at the farm where they also run a prize-winning herd of Pedigree Limousin Cattle.

When not farming, Martin works full-time on the farm at The Teagasc Research Centre in Athenry, Co. Galway

A dedicated herdsman, Martin has tended to the flocks at Teagasc for over 32 years.
