Esther started her flock in September 2016 after purchasing 5 hogget ewes & 5 ewe lambs and a ram lamb at the Galway Sheep Breeders Association Annual Sale in September in Athenry.

Based on the Inishowen peninsula in Co. Donegal, Esther is passionate about the preservation of The Galway breed of sheep. They are extremely good mothers with plenty of milk and great mothering ability. Since 2016, she has increased her flock to 32 and the numbers are growing.
Esther says that she got into the Galway breed because “I heard they are an endangered breed and wanted to help conserve them as a Native Irish sheep breed.”
She finds that they are easy to keep and that they thrive on the soil conditions and are hardy against the weather.
